Our exploration of the subject
First, we went through an exploration in order to gather information and have a clear vision about our subject : « Reduce waste generation through prevention, reduction, recycling and reuse. »
Thereby, we were able to understand how waste generation is handle (or not) around the world.
Here are the links of the mindmaps we created in order to have a large vision of the topic:
Then, we decided to focus on food waste and we came up with Giv'Eat. Giv'Eat is an application designing to reduce waste generation in an indivual scale. We want through some defintions in order to better implement this application. First, we defined the context in which it will be usefull meaning that Giv'Eat
is for anyone who wants to reduce its food waste. Then, we determine how it will work that is with expiry dates, QR codes, notifications and donations.
At the level of competitors, Giv'Eat will be the first application to proceed upstream donation of food and act as soon as the product is bought.
Our application have two main targets:
On those screens, the "community" aspect of the app can be seen. You can search for products, users near your through a map and a search engine and then send a message to get the product you're interested in. A list of the contacts you also interacted with is also available.
Once the structure established with the wireframes, we were able to begin our mockups.
Our app is designed around three main features: scan your product and get a notification when it's near
the expiration date, give the product if you are not going to use it, get a product from someone who's not going to consume it and some secondary others ( a shopping list for instance).
On the second screen, we can see how people are supposed to scan their receipt to then be able to receive the notification
The products scanned are seeable on the second page where the user can decide whether he wants to keep it, give it, or says if he consumed it.

Our user tests
Concerning the users tests, we decided to ask our users about the purpose of the app, whether they thought it was useful, whether they would use it or not, but also about the UX/UI aspect and about the user experience.
We learnt from thought these users tests that our app could be more intuitive concerning the menu,
that somes features could be added such as a parameter page, a map in the community page for instance, and that some could be removed.
Once we did those iterations, we arrived to the final version of Giv'eat .
